BANGKOK (19 June 2026) — In a major diplomatic breakthrough, the Trade and Tourism Thailand (TTT) Taskforce held a high-level preliminary meeting on 19 June 2026 with United Nations representative Dino to discuss the ongoing trade and tourism boycott between Thailand and Australia.

The meeting marks the first formal involvement of the United Nations as a neutral mediator in the dispute. The session focused heavily on addressing the economic and social fallout of the #BoycottOz and #NotTheBaht social media movements, which have severely impacted Thai exports and disrupted the Australian tourism and education sectors.

Executive Secretary Brian Nakrakundi, alongside Directors Thomas, Wayan, and Dwi, presented the taskforce’s newly consolidated six-point operational roadmap to the UN representative. The core of the discussion centered on how the United Nations can help validate Thailand’s recovery initiatives to ensure they meet global standards of transparency, safety, and fairness.

International Relations & Foreign Affairs Director Zhaohuan Wang (Thomas) led the diplomatic brief, emphasizing the urgent need for an objective, third-party framework to counter the viral misinformation fueling the crisis.

“Having Representative Dino and the United Nations involved gives both nations a neutral, evidence-based space to negotiate,” Thomas stated after the session. “This cooperation is vital for drafting a Joint Statement with the Australian Trade and Tourism Development Taskforce (ATTDT) that carries international credibility.”

The meeting also explored how the UN can oversee bilateral agreements regarding Thailand’s structural shifts toward sustainable tourism—spearheaded by Tourism Director I Wayan Mardana—and transparent supply chains for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), managed by Trade Director Dwi Mulyaningsih.

Representative Dino commended the TTT Taskforce for its proactive, data-driven approach and its focus on ethical, community-based recovery. The UN delegation agreed to review the taskforce’s upcoming Initial Assessment Report and map out the administrative steps required to formally mediate upcoming bilateral talks between Thai and Australian officials.

By securing the UN’s advisory support, the TTT Taskforce has elevated its strategy from a domestic response to an internationally recognized diplomatic campaign, providing a clear path forward to restore long-term trust and economic stability.
